# Practice software in Greece: what to check before you choose

Practice software is judged on things a demo rarely shows: Greek done properly, myDATA, reminders, and who can see what. These are the questions that tell them apart.

A practice in Greece looking for software finds plenty of choice. Some is built here, some comes from abroad, and nearly all of it looks good in a demo. The differences show up later: the day reception types a name with accents, the day the accountant asks for the month's receipts, the day a patient asks who opened their record.

The questions below make those differences visible before you sign.

## Is it in Greek, or just translated?

A Greek menu is not enough. Check the whole path of a visit:

- **The app.** Screens, error messages and settings, not only the home page.
- **What the patient receives.** The reminder, the booking confirmation, the form they fill in.
- **Your data.** Names with accents, mobiles with +30, dates as day/month/year, amounts in euro.

Ask for a trial and enter one real patient. Five minutes will tell you.

## Does the appointment book work for reception?

The appointment book is the screen that stays open all day. Check that each practitioner has their own calendar, that rooms or chairs show, and how many clicks it takes to move an appointment. Ask whether a course of sessions can be booked in one go: in HyperCRM you switch on Repeat, and dates that clash are skipped and listed for you to arrange. Ask your receptionist, not only the doctor: they will use it most.

## Can patients book online?

Many patients would rather book in the evening, on their phone, than call in the morning. Ask where they book (your website or someone else's platform), whether they see your real availability, and whether you approve each booking or it goes straight into the book. Both make sense. Just know which you are getting.

## How do reminders go out, and with what consent?

Reminders cut missed appointments only if they arrive. Ask whether they go by SMS, email or both, what each SMS costs, and how far ahead they are sent. Ask, too, where the patient's agreement to receive them is recorded. A message to someone who never asked for it is a problem, not a service.

## What about receipts and myDATA?

This question quickly separates software made for Greece. If the practice issues receipts in one system and keeps the appointment book in another, someone retypes the same amounts at the end of the month and hopes they match.

Ask three things:

- **How does a document reach myDATA?** Directly, through the e-invoicing provider you already have, or not at all?
- **What does the patient get?** Does their copy carry the MARK that myDATA assigns?
- **What happens with a cancellation?** When you void a receipt in the software, is it cancelled in myDATA too?

## Who can see patient data?

A patient's record is among the most sensitive data any business holds. Ask to see:

- **Personal logins.** Everyone at the practice with their own sign-in, not one shared password at reception.
- **An activity log.** Who changed what and when, so you can answer a patient who asks.
- **A data processing agreement.** In writing, with the list of companies the supplier uses and what each one does.
- **Export.** Can you take your data with you, yourself, at no charge?

## What does the price count?

The monthly figure says less than what it counts. Some software charges for every user, reception included. Others charge per doctor, per practice or per chair. Ask whether the price includes VAT, what SMS cost, and what changes when you hire someone. More in [how practice software is priced](/blog/practice-software-pricing).

## Where HyperCRM fits

HyperCRM is software for practices that run on appointments. Here is how it answers the questions above:

- **The app in Greek.** The app is fully in Greek, from the screens to the error messages.
- **Online booking.** Patients book on your practice website or from a link, with no account. They choose from your real availability, and you confirm each request. The practice website with online booking is free on both plans. A blog and your own domain come with Complete. [Online booking](/features/online-booking).
- **SMS and email reminders.** Sent only to patients who have consented, with the consent kept on their record. SMS are paid from credits included in your plan, as the [pricing page](/pricing) shows. [Reminders](/features/reminders).
- **Receipts to myDATA.** On Complete, the receipts and invoices you enter in HyperCRM go to the e-invoicing provider you already use (Elorus, Wrapp, Oxygen, SoftOne and others). The provider issues them and reports them to myDATA. The MARK is printed on the patient's copy. Send them one at a time or automatically. [Billing and receipts](/features/billing).
- **Personal logins and an activity log.** Changes to patients, appointments, billing and the team are recorded, with who made them and when. The [data processing agreement](/dpa) is published. [Security](/security).
- **Export.** The owner can download the patient list, reports and the activity log as CSV. Anyone on the team can download each file from the record it is on. For notes and appointments, ask us.
- **Priced per practitioner.** Reception is free, however many people it is. Plans start at €19 a month including VAT, and every price is on the [pricing page](/pricing).

Coming from other software? You upload your patient list yourself, and we move the rest at no charge. See [moving to HyperCRM](/migrate).
